HUUMS has two great events coming up before the end of the spring semester, and we’d love to have you join us in our learning and celebration!
First, we’ll be having our graduation service, “Departures,” on Friday, April 29th, at 12:10 p.m. in Andover Chapel of Andover Hall, Harvard Divinity School. That is our usual Friday worship time and space. With liturgy, song, and dance, we’ll be honoring our graduating UU HDS students: Charlotte Arsenault, Jennifer Channin, Hilary Lake, Ally Lent, and Jacob Krueger. After the service at 1:30 p.m., we’ll also be holding a barbecue potluck (with meat and veggie burgers, buns, and condiments provided) at the home of one of our Board members (specific location by request).
Second, on Tuesday, May 3rd from 6-8 p.m. in the Braun Room, HUUMS will welcome the Reverend Nate Walker of the First Unitarian Church of Philadelphia for the second gathering in our “Honoring Ministry” series — bringing ministerial leaders from across the country to HDS for informal conversations with UU seminarians and future religious leaders. Rev. Nate is a leader in social networking strategies and online ministry, a Zen Buddhist practitioner, a public voice on ethical eating and LGBT rights, a published author, and a PhD student in Law, Education, and Religion at Columbia University. Please join us Tuesday evening to ask your questions and soak up some knowledge. We will supply pizza and snacks, but feel free to bring a potluck dish to share! You can contact our Programming Coordinator Lee Paczulla at lpaczulla *at* mail *dot* harvard *dot* edu for more information.
If you can’t wait that long for some awesome HUUMS action, please enjoy the video below from Friday worship on April 8th, led by Anastassia Zinke. We were led in many beautiful songs that day, and our community’s rendition of “Down to the River to Pray” is quite lovely.
