No Worship Tomorrow, But Two Great Events Next Week!

Because tomorrow (11/11/11!) is Veterans Day, we will not be having worship. (In fact, Harvard University is closed for the holiday. With your free time, perhaps you want to check out the occupation in Harvard Yard that got set up Wednesday night!) We’ll see you next week on the 18th at noon!

The Board does have two great events cooking for next week:

Are you interested in helping to lead the HUUMS community, but not sure what’s involved or how it happens? Please join the current HUUMS Board for dinner at Pho ‘n Rice (a short walk from Harvard Divinity School) on Monday November 14th at 7:30 pm to learn more about what we do and about the HUUMS Annual Meeting coming up in December.

Did you miss our first immigration justice event this past Sunday, but you still feel passionate about or feel curious about immigration justice? Join HUUMS on Wednesday, November 16 at 7pm in the Braun Room for the latest installment of our Honoring Ministry series with Rev. Wendy von Zirpolo of the UU Church of Marblehead, MA. Rev. von Zirpolo will speak to us about her ministry on immigration issues, including her experiences protesting SB 1070 in Arizona and speaking out against the Secure Communities program in our own state of Massachusetts. We’ll start out with some informal social time, and then launch into an open discussion with Rev. von Zirpolo. Snacks and wine will be served — we hope to see you there!

And, check back here on the website soon for photos and a recap of our amazing and heart wrenching trip to the Suffolk County Detention Center this past Sunday.

See you on Monday!
